Sales Date Change
In response to the unprecedented market conditions relating to the global economic crisis, American Legend Cooperative is announcing today the postponement of the February auction until the following month of March. The postponement of the auction will allow for additional time within the retail selling season for the necessary finances to be accrued and secured, ultimately benefitting all parties involved. In addition, the new auction dates will help to eliminate any scheduling conflicts that may exist with other international auction houses during the month of February.
American Legend Cooperative is pleased to announce that Fur Harvesters Inc. will now offer their premium collection in Seattle in conjunction with the revised March dates. This allows for a larger and more diverse assortment of premium mink and wild furs to be offered during the sales period.
Selling dates for American Legend mink will begin on Thursday, March 12 and conclude on Saturday, March 14. The inspection period will begin the preceding Saturday, March 7. Fur Harvesters will offer their premium Wild Fur collection on Wednesday, March 11.

MEN ARE THE FUTURE FUR COSTUMER |
|
|
|
Saturday, 27 December 2008 |
According to trend researchers at the Danish trend group ‘PEJ-gruppen’, future fashion for men will be just as big as fashion for women. In their latest book they state, that it is time for men to be the centre of attention in fashion. Men are namely a so called ‘mega niche’, the book states.
This is substantiated in new ethnological studies, which shows, that the different between women’s and men’s shopping habits are getting smaller and smaller, and that men cares just as much about shopping and clothing as women.
The reason for the new man’s interest in Dressing nice is caused by the modern man, starting to experience different sides of himself, because of more and more men taking a paternity leave. New sides, which are expressed in a more feminine attitude towards fashion and clothing.
And to dress up and wear nice clothes has become more and more common for the ordinary man. The tendency was also clear at the ‘The Golden Fur Pin’s’ 10. year’s anniversary, where several designers had chosen to design fur for men, instead of the traditional fur clothing for woman.
In other words it is a good idea to concentrate on fur fashion for men, because the modern man is not afraid to wear fur and care about fashion. |

FUR PRICES NOW ALSO HIT BY THE FINANCIAL CRISIS |
|
|
|
Saturday, 27 December 2008 |
From Kopenhagenfur.com
The financial crisis left its pronounced mark on the first selling day at Kopenhagen Fur’s December auction, where among others 1.2 million mink skins were offered to buyers from all over the world. At the first day of the auction only 11% of the skins were sold at prices that were approximately 22% below the high level at the latest auction in September.
- The global uncertainty as a consequence of the financial crisis is great. Everybody knows that the real economy will hit hard all over the world, and in several countries recession is a reality. This does, of course, also affect the buyers in our trade, says managing director Torben Nielsen, Kopenhagen Fur.
Traditionally the December auction is the smallest auction of the year, but a good cold winter is still of great importance to the turnover in the shops.
- Buyers are often a little cautious buying too many skins in December, as they will like to have clearer signals from the retailers concerning the turnover of the garments that are already in the shops. Therefore, our next auction in February might be the real litmus test on the effect that the crisis has on mink prices, says Torben Nielsen.
The largest markets for fur are Russia and China. Russia and the Russian consumers are already widely affected by the financial crisis, whereas the effects in China are gradually setting in. |
